Whether you are available to help gather items for a silent auction, work at one of our monthly afternoon bingos, help write grants or volunteer at our casino (once every 18-24 months), your time will have a direct effect helping ENW continue our work. See the Events page for casino and bingo dates & locations.
ENW currently receives no sustainable (budgeted) funding from municipal or provincial governments. Therefore, ENW is reliant on fundraising efforts. Volunteers who can help with fundraising events can have a large impact at ENW by helping to raise the much-needed operational funds. There are many ways you can make a difference:
*Help gather items for our annual Silent Auction
*Help develop and implement fundraising campaigns
*Help by sourcing (researching) new funding opportunities
*Help by drafting grants on behalf of ENW
*Work at our monthly bingo
*Work at our bi-annual casinoBingo
ENW has a monthly bingo held during the afternoon. Volunteers are needed from approximately 11am to 3:30pm. Each month 16 volunteers are needed. The funds raised from monthly bingos goes toward ENW providing crime prevention programs and services at the community level. Currently, ENW bingos are held at the Kensington Bingo Hall. See our events page for the dates of upcoming bingos.Casino
The majority of the ENW annual budget (approx. 75%) comes from funds raised through Alberta Gaming. The next casino for ENW is on Wednesday August 10th & Thursday August 11th at the Century Casino. Volunteers are desperately needed. Contact admin@enwatch.ca or volunteer@enwatch.ca to volunteer. Why volunteer?
Casino funds are essential to maintain the exceptional quality of the ECMS concert season and Summer Solstice Music Festival. They form an essential part of ECMS’ annual budget. Our exciting 2019/2020 Season features outstanding musicians from Canada, the United States and Europe. It is expensive to bring these internationally acclaimed artists to Edmonton while keeping ticket prices reasonable during times when the Canadian dollar has less buying power compared to the US dollar. We ask for your help in volunteering for the casino.
Volunteers are needed for the positions of Bankers, Cashiers, Chip Runners, and Count Room Workers, and for both daytime and evening shifts. No experience is required for any of the positions; training and support will be provided.
*We provide a complimentary meal in the casino restaurant for all volunteers.
*Those working long shifts (longer than 8 hours) will be entitled to 2 complimentary meals per shift. (Meals purchased outside the casino will not be reimbursed.)
* Snacks are also provided in the volunteer lounge throughout all shifts.
*Volunteers who are unable to drive or who prefer not to drive during the late hours may have taxi fare reimbursed if they provide their receipts.
*Child care expenses may also be reimbursed.

The Edmonton Chamber Music Society (ECMS), a well-established volunteer-run community organization, has an opportunity for skilled, committed volunteers to serve on various working groups and the Board of Directors.
For over 60 years ECMS has been bringing internationally renowned chamber musicians to Edmonton. Serving thousands of appreciative audience members, our concert seasons offer a range of programming from early music to contemporary works performed by instrumental and vocal soloists, small chamber orchestras and traditional string quartets. Since 2008 ECMS has also successfully produced a Summer Solstice Music Festival in June of each year, bringing chamber musicians together for a diverse array of concerts, master classes and outreach events. Board Members
The fine concerts presented by the Edmonton Chamber Music Society are organized and implemented through the work of many volunteers. The Board of Directors is responsible for governance, strategic planning and effective management of the resources of the Society.
Our Board members act in both a governance and a working capacity. The Board holds approximately 10 evening meetings and one strategic planning session per year. Some roles require knowledge of classical music. All roles are challenging and allow volunteers to either use their existing skills and knowledge, or learn new things, work with others or independently.
We have the following vacancies on the Board of Directors to fill:President
The President is responsible for providing leadership of the organization so as to continue to attract and maintain a loyal and satisfied audience. The organization organizes up to 12 chamber music concerts annually, comprised of a regular season, a summer festival and events in more relaxed concert venues.
As President you ensure that governance and operational matters are completed in accordance with the bylaws of the Society and meet the requirements of multiple funding bodies. You establish effective management, fundraising, meetings and Committee processes so as to support effective participation of Board members and volunteers.Directors of Publicity
The Directors of Publicity share responsibility for advertising in print media, development and distribution of brochures and posters, preparation of electronic communications and coordination with the social media expert.
Together these roles will oversee and coordinate the contributions of volunteers and contractors who provide expertise in graphic design, web design and maintenance, press and media relations. Participation in working groups and committees is essential for both roles.Volunteer Coordinator
Description
This role supports the overall functioning of the organization by helping to recruit, orient, support and retain volunteers. Since the work of the Society is conducted almost exclusively by volunteers, all new initiatives require the involvement of people who can contribute their time and talents to a range of activities.
The Volunteer Coordinator is a member of the Board of the Society, will be assisted in the various tasks and responsibilities by volunteers, contractors and other Board members, and will receive orientation and ongoing support from various Board members.
Qualifications
This role would suit you if you like to work with people, understand the diversity of skills and abilities that ECMS volunteers offer, and are a good communicator. The role requires organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of chamber music is not required.
Time Commitment
Board meetings are two hours in length and are held approximately 10 times per year. A special planning and development day-long session for the Board may be held throughout the year. The position entails time communicating with existing and potential volunteers and other Board members and organizing the needed resources for new initiatives.
An average of about 10 hours minimum per month is anticipated; time commitments will vary depending upon time of year, new initiatives and special events. Board Exploration Program
The organization has a Board Exploration Program in place where you can explore the work of the Board for six months prior to making a formal commitment to assuming a specific role. The ECMS is a well-established organization with a track record of offering performances of outstanding international artists, furthering the development of young Edmonton classical musicians and advocating for the advancement of chamber music in the capital region.
